How China’s Dual Role Destabilizes the World

In global economy, China has woven a unique and contradictory identity. On one hand, it presents itself as a developing nation, deserving of preferential treatment and allowances from international bodies. On the other, it operates as a full-fledged superpower, leveraging its economic might to exert geopolitical influence and reshape the world order.

This great contradiction, as the book We Were Funding China’s Growth That Must Stop! reveals, is not a simple paradox. It is a deliberate strategy that threatens the very stability of the global system.

The dual role allows Beijing to have its cake and eat it, too. As a “developing country,” China benefits from loopholes and special provisions within organizations like the World Trade Organization (WTO). These benefits, originally intended to help genuinely poor nations, have allowed China to protect its industries with subsidies and tariffs while simultaneously flooding the global market with its goods. This has created a fundamentally unfair trading environment, one in which Western businesses are forced to compete with a state-sponsored juggernaut that does not play by the same rules.

Simultaneously, as a global power, China uses the immense wealth generated from this lopsided trade to project its influence. The money earned from its exports and often at the expense of American and European manufacturing jobs is channeled into ambitious projects like the Belt and Road Initiative, which extends Beijing’s reach across continents. This is a strategic and coordinated effort to gain political leverage, secure resources, and create a network of dependent countries. The irony here, is that the West, in its role as a primary consumer of Chinese goods, is unwittingly funding this very expansion. Without relizing it, our purchases of smartphones, toys, and clothing are, in effect, a tax that supports the rise of a strategic competitor.

The destabilizing effect of this dual role erodes the principles of fair trade and a rules-based international order. When a nation can claim poverty to avoid international obligations while using its economic power to dominate and coerce, the entire system begins to crumble, that has exploited Western naivete and greed. In reality, our blind pursuit of cheap goods has left us vulnerable, both economically and strategically, to a power that is using our own money against us.

Therefore, we should understand the full scope of this critical issue and should do somehting to reverse this dangerous trend. In this context, reading this book is a necessary first step. Head to Amazon now: https://www.amazon.com/dp/1967963053.
